A Question from Sister Virgie Madlaing:

Hi Paul,
Hello! How are you? You know, I’ve been reading Danny’s situation. At first, I am not giving importance for I really don’t know him or his family. Who is he? Is he a preacher in Urdaneta? Maybe he is still very young that is why I did not hear his name at all until now.

Well, I know, that it is hard to go to the hospital there because there is no health insurance unlike here in US. I asked Art if we will give some amount. He said, yes. But how could I remit? Maybe I will just give $100.00 dollars worth, but how? Oh, my sister Lydda will be there in Calasiao, Dec 2 and that is Sunday. So maybe your brother can get it from her or through Rowena and I will deposit it here through ARO Ministries account. When your brother will pick up his support from Percy, he will just get it too and give it to you and bahala ka na. Okay, take care and God bless.

Love and peace,

Virgie

A Reply from brother Lachica:
Dear Sister Virgie,

Greetings! Bro. Danny Juralbal is a graduate of Philippine Bible College. He worked as full time preacher before he became a public school teacher in Urdaneta. He worked with Bro. Felix Bravo at the Urdaneta Church of Christ before his employment in government.

Your financial help will surely unburdenced the family. Manong Trifon will be going to Calasiao this Sunday. We will deliver to the family of Danny your help.

Tell Bro. Art that we your brothers and sisters in Christ in the Philippines will always be thankful for your generosity.

Paul

Panagkakaddua 2008

November 20, 2007 · 2 Comments

Ten congregations together with Tarlac City Church of Christ will host the Panagkakaddua 2008 during the “holy week” next year with the “Fear of God” as its theme. The venue of the gathering will be in Sapang, Moncada, Tarlac.

The topics are being distributed now to prospective speakers. There will be classes for the children, for the young people, for the non-members, and for the adult Christians. There will be two nights of gospel meeting with featured speakers on Wednesday and Thursday nights of the “holy week.” Friday night is reserved as “recognition” or “awarding night” where the efforts and the valuable contributions of the churches and other Christians shall be recognized.

The registration fee per attendee shall be P200. Brother Felix Bravo, minister of Tarlac City Church, says they are doing everything to insure the success of this gathering, promising that everyone who attends shall be housed within the large “storm shelter” in Sapang, and that no one shall go hungry. They hope to butcher one or two cows plus a lot of fish, vegetables, fish and pork now lined up.

Brother Felix Bravo serves as the over-all chairman of the Panagkakaddua 2008, with 10 leaders from the congregations of Tarlac province as his vice-chairmen. He can be contacted through this number: +63920-6017849.

Brother Felix has also extended his invitation to the PBC alumni to hold their song leaders’ class in Sapang together with the Panagkakaddua 2008 affair, offering to them the hospitality of the Tarlac congregations. We are still awaiting the response from brother Pablo Lachica and the convenors of this Song Leaders’ Training Class. In expectation of such a great number of attendees, brother Bravo assures everyone that the “storm shelter” in Sapang, Moncada, Tarlac would house from 600 to 800 people.

Brother Danny Juralbal

November 19, 2007 · 1 Comment

Yesterday, I handed to Danny’s wife Angie the total amount of Forty Thousand Pesos (P40,000.00) as help for Danny who is presently confined in the ICU of Urdaneta District Hospital.

Danny ’s hospital bill as of today has amounted to about a Hundred and Thirty Nine Thousand pesos (P139,000.00). Deducting from this the amount I gave yesterday, he still has less than a hundred thousand pesos for hospital bills. Day to day, however, Danny’s bills increase within the range of ten thousand to fifteen thousand pesos. The need is indeed great.

We are thankful for brother Paul Lachica and brother Junas Sagurit for taking the initiative to solicit help from PBC alumni and from the churches of Christ. From the emails we received from pbcaa@yahoogroups.com, brother Rolly Dumawa has signified his intent to help. We are sure that there are still others who might want to contribute.

The help I gave to Angie comes from our personal funds as well as from our brethren in this country and from abroad.

To all the brethren, Danny’s family would like to thank you so much for the financial help in this time of their great need and for the prayers you have petitioned to the Lord for him. (Felix Bravo, Minister).

Four Souls Added to the Church

November 19, 2007 · No Comments

Yesterday at noon, Sunday, November 18, 2007, three precious souls obeyed their Lord by being baptized for the remission of their sins. Those immersed were: brother John Miranda, 50; sister Ruth de Vera, 45; and sister Erlita Garcia, 35.

Brother John Miranda is a resident of Tibag, Tarlac City. Sister Erlita Garcia lives adjacent to the meeting place of Tarlac Church, in Teresa Homes. Sister Ruth de Vera is also a resident of Teresa Homes, Tibag, Tarlac City; she is the wife of brother John de Vera, who was baptized on November 11.

The three plus John de Vera who was immersed a week earlier were the latest additions to the Lord’s church in Tarlac City. May the Lord be praised!

Jay Policarpio is baptized

November 8, 2007 · No Comments

Hello!

A while back, we reported in this weblog that Jay Policarpio is getting interested on things about the Bible. Jay is the older brother of Jade, whom we baptized earlier. Now, Jay is a Christian and a member of the local church in Tarlac City.

In this connection, Jade and Jay brought their father, Jaimie to church last Sunday, November 4, 2007. He had some questions. I answered these briefly and asked him if he is agreeable to these answers. He answered “yes.” From that point, I arranged with him to continue his search in the Scriptures. We agreed on 4 home Bible study classes to end this coming Saturday, November 10th. At this writing, we had 2 finished and 2 more classes to go. So far, everything seemed “good.” His questions were all answered satisfactorily. It might be a good prediction that we have another brother in Jaime! I will let you know more about our studies. Bye for now!

Sister Gloria Serrano, 65

October 26, 2007 · 1 Comment

Sister Gloria Serrano. Those of us who are members of the Lord’s church in Tarlac City know her as a very active Christian, and a good influence to her family too. Others must have known sister Gloria as a lively, active woman in her younger days. For she had appeared as a stunt woman in some Pinoy movies. The neighbors know sister Gloria as a hardworking mother. She was a beautician. That was after her stint in the movies. What she earned as a beautician also went to the support of her family.

I taught and baptized sister Gloria ten months ago, and from the time she became a Christian, she was faithful to her commitment to serve God. In fact because of that commitment to serve Him and to continually show forth the light that she had from Jesus, two of her sons are now active members of the church of the Lord in Tarlac City

Age sixty-five. Ten months as a Christian. God does not measure Christian service by years and by scores of years, but by the quality of that service. Even a lingering illness could not stop sister Gloria. And the Lord did not fail her. And He called her home. Sister Gloria Serrano passed to her own reward this afternoon (October 26, 2007). Through this blog, we would like to request the prayers of Christians for the family of sister Gloria that they may be strong in these times when their faith is being tried (Felix Bravo, Minister).
